Portable garage spray booth3/4/2024 ![]() unless having dust and insects in your paint isn't a big deal. two canopies end to end would be ideal. The incoming air flow needs to be relaxed and filtered and not blowing right on the paint job. With such a small canopy 11'x17' it will be difficult but it is doable.the problem with the canopy so short will be the incoming air blowing directly on the vehicle. I was painting outside when I first started out, but back then the air was way cleaner then it is today. I've used plastic tarps, plastic sheeting and even painters drop cloths which worked well, I'd wet them just before paint, they would suck up the fumes and dust since I had the exhaust fan on the other side so it would draw through the cloth. If you do wash the tarp down definitely dry it good then blow it off again before painting cause dust and lint clings to plastic. I've painted in every conceivable kind of makeshift booth and it is all in the prep, air flow and correct temperature.
